OmniMed is a comprehensive medical-legal service designed to meet the needs of the insurance industry. Our services include Independent Medical Examinations, Record Retrieval, Peer Reviews and Radiology Reviews

Independent Medical Examinations

The management of OmniMed have a combined 48 years of experience in coordinating and arranging Independent Medical Evaluations. OmniMed is staffed with qualified medical consultants who perform extensive examinations which result in narrative reports designed to meet your requirements. Our service will allow your claims staff to investigate and settle claims in a more efficient manner by providing the following services:

1. Within 24 hours of receipt of your request for an Independent Medical Examination, we will schedule an appointment with the specialty of your choice. All submitted medical records will be reviewed by our medical consultants to determine if the specialty you selected best fits your needs. If necessary, OmniMed will contact you immediately to confirm any change of specialty.

2. We will immediately notify the claimant, attorney and you with the exact date, time and location of the physical examination.

3. On the day of the scheduled examination, we confirm that the examination was completed. In the event of a no-show or cancellation, we will reschedule the appointment and notify all the appropriate parties by telephone and mail. Of course, if you desire to be contacted after any appointment activity, we will be glad to do so. In the event of a second no-show, we will contact you the next day to enable appropriate action. A letter documenting the steps taken to arrange the physical examination will be sent to your office. If requested, an affidavit or OmniMed representative will be made available at arbitration or court proceedings.

4. All narrative reports will be mailed to your office the day it is received from the examining physician. All reports will comment upon all requested medical and legal issues. A cover letter from OmniMed will summarize the salient details of the report. Completed NF10 forms are provided upon request for NYS No-Fault cases.

5. All narrative reports are submitted on the physician's personal stationery to insure accuracy and credibility. All examinations are conducted at the physician's own office. This insures that the locale will always be convenient for the claimant. All OmniMed physicians are board certified in their specialty.

6. Our service does not end with the delivery of the narrative report. OmniMed will follow-up on any requests for addendums or clarification of the report. In addition, OmniMed takes care of any unusual circumstances or needs. For example, we frequently arrange transportation and interpreter services. We arrange to translate materials from other language. We obtain medical records and radiological films. In the event that a re-examination is suggested or necessary, we will notify you at the appropriate time. In short, we handle all aspects of the IME process.

Peer Reviews

A peer review is a retrospective review of a medical file by a medical professional to address the services performed to date and the charges associated with them. To date, OmniMed has saved our clients from unnecessary medical services and testing. Our Peer Review Panel is separate from our general physician population. In general, these practitioners are more academic and have superior knowledge of the peer review process.

Due to our unique relationship with these physicians, we are able to furnish a completed Peer Review Reports within five business days. In the event a report is required quicker, an OmniMed professional can usually accommodate you.

Our Multiple Billing Program will allow discounted Peer Reviews in cases where providers submit numerous billings over an extended period of time. This program will offer you discounts on all subsequent Peer Review requests within the same specialty.

Lastly, our Peer Within IME program (currently available in limited areas) will allow you to combine a Peer Review within an IME. This program offers you a significant cost savings and additional benefits. Ask your OmniMed professional about this program.

OmniMed Board Certified Radiologists and Neuroradiologists provide interpretation of radiology films, CT scans and MRI images. Many times, causal relationship can be established by mechanism of injury or the presence of degenerative or pre-existing conditions. OmniMed will improve the Radiology Review process by providing the following services:
